Flight Details

We’re the go-to air service for scenic photo flights of Mt Baker. Our premier location is only 14 miles from the mountain–we can see the summit from the hangar door.

Known as Kulshan by the Lummi people, Mt Baker is a 10,781′ glacier-crowned active volcano. Ten glaciers originate high on the mountain and fumaroles vent super-heated steam from the summit crater.

This scenic photo flight explores all sides of Mt Baker, flys by spectacular Mount Shuksan, and traverses the Twin Sister Range where 7000′ spires mark the western boundary of the North Cascades. Climber and mountain goat sightings are common!

Customer Feedback & Photos

  • star ratingI love being in the air, so when I saw that there was a chance to fly over the Cascade Mountains, I was quick to book it. And I am so glad I did! Wayne was a wonderful pilot who was kind and sure to emphasize that I was more than welcome to communicate any requests, questions, or concerns to him. The flight itself was absolutely breathtaking - there's nothing quite like seeing those dramatic mountain peaks and beautiful glaciers from above. I would absolutely recommend this experience - it was wonderful from start to finish.

  • star ratingStunning Aerial Adventure Over the North Cascades. - Stunning aerial adventure over the North Cascades. I've been meaning to book this tour since last Fall, and so glad I finally went. Wayne is an exceptional pilot and goes into detail about the safety aspects of his plane pre-flight. We finally got some nice weather and went flying.

He explained what I was seeing as we soared above this incredible landscape of textures, shadows, ice, snow and rock. I shot over 1300 images on my camera and can't take my eyes off the results. Bring any camera; just make sure you bring a camera.

If you've ever wondered what the North Cascades looks like from above, this trip answers it and then some. Can't recommend it enough.

  • star ratingAMAZING - Absolutely mind blowing experience. Wayne was the perfect tour guide showing us all the glaciers and peaks. Knowing which tour we were able to do due to high winds ands having very clear communication with the group. Fantastic views! Definitely once in a lifetime experience.

The expert pilot Wayne had us in the air in no time with just breathtaking views of Baker Lake, Mount Shuksan, Mount Baker, The Picketts and a variety of other peaks, so many i can’t remember them all. Words cannot describe the beauty we have. If you ever get a chance.. take the flight you’ll be amazed.

  • star ratingBest flight of my life! - From start to finish, Wayne made this an incredible experience! My husband and I had a late October flight booked (hoping to see snow covered peaks surrounding not-yet-frozen lakes). It had been really cold in the days preceding our trip and Wayne contacted us before our flight and gave us a list of items that would keep us cozy in the plane's cabin. He was also so knowledgeable about the region, during the flight he listed off all the lakes and mountain peaks we passed! He also made sure that the plane was lined up perfectly to get the best views (and best photographs) of the mountains. It was a solid 11/10 experience, easily one of the coolest things I've done! I've hiked/backpacked/skied quite a bit in the North Cascades, but getting to see the range from the air really put into perspective how massive and rugged the North Cascades are! Jaw dropping beauty everywhere you look, seriously, I had a tough time knowing where to look because it was all so beautiful!

  • star ratingAn unforgettable day in the cascades! - I booked a flight with Snowking Aviation for my boyfriend's birthday and it was one of the best experiences for both of us. Wayne was very responsive when I wanted to change the day that I originally booked. Wayne is a great guy, knowledgeable, engaging, and made sure everyone was safe and heard. This experience can easily be a day trip from Seattle for people visiting or for people who want to experience the Cascades in a different way. Can't say enough about it!

  • star ratingA can't miss introduction to the North Cascades - I booked an hour long flight at sunset for my girlfriend and I for my birthday. We had a great time! Wayne gave us a great tour through the range, taking us close to the jagged peaks so we could admire them. I'm an avid film photographer, and Wayne helped point out and line up shots, of which I only had 12. We were also impressed with Wayne's professionalism and commitment to safety; his preflight briefing put us at ease before the flight. I'd love to fly with Snowking again!

  • star ratingBack For More - Stunning Aerial Adventure Above the North Cascades - I couldn't stay away. A week of new snow dumping in the North Cascades set up another trip above this spectacle of nature's beauty in the Northwest. Wayne arranged a tour for me a bit later in the day for better light and the possibility of beautiful alpenglow.

We got all that and more. Just relentless gorgeous snowscapes, towering peaks, faroff Mount Rainier and Glacier Peak. All bathed in soft golden light which turned pink as we headed back home.

I loved this second view of the North Cascades with fresh snow. I had two cameras with me:

Sony a7r2 and Canon 70-200 lens
Fuji GFX100s and GF45-100 medium format

Advice: Keep your shutter speed above 1/500 using ISO. In-camera stabilization helps. Set auto focus to Continuous. Keep lenses close to the window but not in contact. Any tiny glare artifacts in images can be fixed with Content Aware Fill in photoshop.

I got over 70% keepers using these strategies.

Feel free to contact me for prints, or even better, book a tour and go get your own!

  • star ratingWayne the pilot has such an understated and modest manner to put anyone at ease. We flew at 9000 feet through the Cascades so you could almost reach out and touch the snow capped peaks. This pilot has decades of experience as a bush pilot in Alaska. Need I say more? We are so looking forward to flying with Snowking again. Lifetime experience!! I've spent more and gotten way less of an adventure. Wayne is the Snowking.
